Sandi Vito is a name who is highly recognized in Pennsylvania that s because she s not just any other secretary, but she works in human resource, which is more personal to the people living in the state. Before Sandi was appointed as the Secretary for the Department of Labor and Industry, she had served under Governor Rendell as the Deputy Secretary for its workforce development department. Under this department, she could help in devising the Job Ready PA that was able to greatly boost the economic growth strategy of Governor Rendell as it expanded the training opportunities and employment for the highly skilled individuals to receive high-wage jobs. The workforce development system was completely overhauled and turned into the Job Ready PA, and it focuses on the development of the industry partnerships and provides training programs for skilled workers who will help meet the demands of the employers in Pennsylvania so that the workforce in the state becomes more competitive for the global market.
Sandi Vito is Pennsylvania s secretary for the Department of Labor and Industry, and she has greatly improved the state s value. To greatly understand what this means, it s important to know what the Pennsylvania state had been challenged to in the past years before she was appointed into the Labor Industry. In 2003, Edward Rendell was voted to be the Governor of Pennsylvania, and he was welcomed by an economy that became stagnant and deteriorating because of its uncompetitive workforce and below the average for national eligibility especially with adult workers whose earnings are either dormant or are already decreasing. These problems had made the State of Pennsylvania as an uncompetitive state not just in the United States but for the worldwide market. Because of this, Governor Rendell recognized that there is an urgent need for reform of its human capital policy and there is a need for restructuring of the Labor Force.
Job Ready PA is very successful and because of it. They managed to get over 6,000 businesses involved in 80 industry partnerships with 70,000+ workers who have been trained because of Job Ready PA. These trained workers are able to enjoy higher salary wages of an average of 6.62% from their first year. Because of Job Ready PA, they could meet the growing demand for LPN and RN graduates. From just 2,939 graduates of RN in 2002 it more than doubled to over 7000 in 2008 which is just six years after. LPN graduates have also increased from just 1,236 to 2,149 in 2008.
Gov. Rendell congratulated the award-winning secretary and cited that she was instrumental in the reinvention of the workforce development’s effort in the state of Pennsylvania. He also expressed that the dedication and expertise of Sandi are helping the workforce development strategy of Pennsylvania to be a national leader in the United States. Despite all the honors and achievements that she received, she still feels privileged to have worked with other people who helped make their goals successful.
